HDFC Bank PIXEL Play Credit Card Review
Updated 5 October 2026 · By Cardjaano Team
| Joining Fee | Annual Fee | Best Suited For | Reward Type |
|---|---|---|---|
| ₹500 + GST (waived on ₹20,000 spend in 90 days) | ₹500 + GST (waived on ₹1,00,000 spend in a year) | Online shoppers with predictable brands | Cashback as PIXEL CashPoints |
The HDFC Bank PIXEL Play is the customisable card in HDFC’s PIXEL line. You pick your own merchant partners, your billing date and even the card colour, and the whole thing is run from the PayZapp app.
The headline is 5% cashback on any two merchant packs of your choice, plus 3% on one e-commerce platform, on top of a 1% base. For a person whose online spending is concentrated on a few brands, that structure can beat many fixed-category cards.
The trade-off is a ₹500 fee and a higher ₹1 lakh renewal waiver. This review lays out the rates, the costs, the eligibility and who should look elsewhere.
Rewards & Benefits
Reward rate and earn structure
Play stacks several rates. You earn 5% cashback on a choice of any two packs, 3% cashback on one of Amazon, Flipkart or PayZapp, and 1% on UPI spends if you hold the RuPay card. HDFC’s FAQ adds 1% on all transactions and 5% on SmartBuy purchases.
The product page does not publish monthly caps, so read the card’s terms before you plan a large purchase around the 5% rate.
| Pack | Merchants |
|---|---|
| Dining & Entertainment | BookMyShow, Zomato |
| Travel | MakeMyTrip, Uber |
| Grocery | Blinkit, Reliance Smart Bazaar |
| Electronics | Croma, Reliance Digital |
| Fashion | Nykaa, Myntra |
Pick the two packs where you actually spend. A family that orders groceries on Blinkit and travels with MakeMyTrip should choose Grocery and Travel.
Someone who shops at Myntra and Nykaa and buys gadgets at Croma should choose Fashion and Electronics. The pack choice is the whole value of this card.
Redemption and point value
Cashback is credited as PIXEL CashPoints in the rewards section of PayZapp. With 500 CashPoints you can move them to your PayZapp Wallet or buy brand vouchers within PayZapp, and CashPoints are valid for 2 years.
HDFC’s page does not print the rupee value of a CashPoint, so redeem the first 500 and check what the wallet shows.
Milestone and everyday perks
There is no welcome gift. The fee waivers are the milestones: spend ₹20,000 in the first 90 days and the joining fee is waived, and spend ₹1 lakh or more in the preceding 12 months and the renewal fee is waived for the next year.
Fuel gets a 1% surcharge waiver on transactions of ₹400 to ₹5,000, with a maximum waiver of ₹250 per statement cycle.
Everyday features

Fees & Charges
| Charge | Amount |
|---|---|
| Joining fee | ₹500 + applicable taxes |
| Renewal fee | ₹500 + applicable taxes |
| Joining fee waiver | Spend ₹20,000 within 90 days |
| Renewal fee waiver | Spend ₹1,00,000 or more in a year |
| Card reissue | ₹199 + GST |
| Fuel surcharge waiver | 1% on ₹400 to ₹5,000, max ₹250 per cycle |
| Interest-free period | Up to 50 days |
With 18% GST, ₹500 comes to about ₹590. The waiver bar of ₹1 lakh a year is roughly ₹8,300 a month, noticeably higher than the ₹50,000 needed on PIXEL Go. You reach it more easily if the card takes your groceries, travel, shopping and UPI payments together.
The charge that catches people out is the ₹1 lakh renewal threshold. Many users clear the first-year waiver with ₹20,000, then fall short and pay ₹590 in year two.
HDFC’s banner calls the card lifetime free when you apply online, while the fee table still lists ₹500, so look at the offer in PayZapp before you apply.
Interest, late payment, forex and cash advance charges are in the Most Important Terms and Conditions rather than on the product page.

HDFC accepts a passport, Aadhaar, voter ID, driving licence or PAN card as identity proof, with passport-size photographs. Address proof can be a utility bill, rental agreement, passport, Aadhaar or voter ID.

Pros & Cons
- Pro: You choose two 5% packs and a 3% e-commerce platform
- Pro: Billing date and merchant partners are customisable
- Pro: FD-backed option for people without a credit history
- Con: Renewal waiver needs ₹1 lakh a year
- Con: Caps are not shown on the product page, and there is no lounge access
PIXEL Play vs Competitors
Against its sibling PIXEL Go, Play charges ₹250 more, raises the income bar from ₹12,000 to ₹25,000 and the renewal waiver from ₹50,000 to ₹1 lakh, but pays 5% on two packs instead of a flat 1%.
Compared with fixed-brand cashback cards such as co-branded e-commerce cards, Play spreads across ten merchants rather than one. If most of your spend sits on a single site, that site’s own card may return more.
How to Apply
Apply in the HDFC Bank PayZapp app. Install or update PayZapp, tap the Apply Now for PIXEL Play banner on the home screen and follow the prompts.
You choose the network (Visa, RuPay or both) within 3 days of approval, then set your billing date, merchant partners and card colour.
After that window you receive both networks, with RuPay as a digital card and Visa as the physical card, on one consolidated statement.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the PIXEL Play annual fee?
The joining and renewal fee is ₹500 plus applicable taxes. Spending ₹20,000 in the first 90 days waives the joining fee, and spending ₹1,00,000 or more in a year waives the renewal fee.
Which cashback packs can I choose on PIXEL Play?
You pick any two of five packs: Dining & Entertainment, Travel, Grocery, Electronics or Fashion. Each pack covers two named merchants and earns 5% cashback.
How much cashback do Amazon and Flipkart give?
PIXEL Play gives 3% cashback on your choice of Amazon, Flipkart or PayZapp. HDFC’s page describes it as a choice of e-commerce platform.
What is the minimum salary for PIXEL Play?
A salaried applicant needs ₹25,000 monthly income and must be aged 21 to 60. Self-employed applicants need an annual ITR above ₹6,00,000 and an age between 21 and 65.

No. HDFC’s product page lists no airport lounge benefit for this card.
What is the card reissue fee?
The reissue fee is ₹199 plus GST, billed on your next statement when a card is replaced after loss, theft or damage.
Can I change my merchant packs later?
HDFC lets you choose merchant partners when you build the card. The page does not describe how often you can change them, so check the PayZapp rewards section before relying on a switch.
Bottom Line
PIXEL Play suits online shoppers whose spending falls on a few named brands, and who will happily run most monthly spends through one card to reach ₹1 lakh a year.
Pick the packs that match your habits and the 5% rate can pull ahead of many flat cashback cards. Skip it if you spend mostly offline, want lounge access or a welcome bonus, or cannot reach ₹1 lakh a year, in which case PIXEL Go’s lower ₹50,000 waiver is the safer pick. Check the caps in the terms before using the 5% rate on a large purchase.
