HDFC Superia Credit Card Review
At a Glance
| Joining Fee | Not published on the product page. First-year membership is free on ₹15,000 spent within 90 days |
| Annual Fee | ₹1,000 + GST (₹1,180 all in), waived on spends of ₹75,000 in the year |
| Best Suited For | Existing holders who want airline miles and a Priority Pass membership at a low renewal cost |
| Reward Type | Reward Points, convertible to AirMiles at 1 point = 0.7 AirMiles |
The HDFC Bank Superia is an older travel-flavoured rewards card that pays 3 Reward Points per ₹200 and converts points into airline miles.
It is no longer open to new applicants: HDFC’s own page says sourcing of the card has been stopped and that existing customers continue to get its benefits.
So this page answers one question: if Superia is already in your wallet, is it worth keeping? At ₹1,180 a year, with the fee waived at ₹75,000 of spends, it is cheap to hold, but it earns less than HDFC’s current travel cards.
Rewards & Benefits
Reward rate and earn structure
| Spend category | Benefit | Cap |
|---|---|---|
| Retail spends | 3 Reward Points per ₹200 | Cap not stated on the product page |
| Dining at select premium restaurants | 50% more Reward Points | Cap not stated on the product page |
| Utility bills and mobile recharges via PayZapp | Additional CashBack on top of points | Terms set by the PayZapp offer |
| Fuel | 1% fuel surcharge waiver on transactions of ₹400 or more | Maximum waiver of ₹500 per statement cycle |
The base earn works out to 1.5 points per ₹100. HDFC does not publish a monthly cap for the base rate on this page, so check your statement for any ceiling that applies to you.
Redemption and point value
HDFC states the redemption value as 1 Reward Point = 0.7 AirMiles. You can also convert points into vouchers for domestic airlines, which HDFC says can save you up to ₹8,000, redeem for AirMiles with more than 20 international airlines through KrisFlyer by Singapore Airlines, or use points in the rewards catalogue at the applicable rate.
The page does not give a rupee value per point, so the return on spend depends on which route you pick. Unredeemed points lapse after 2 years of accumulation, so do not let a balance sit.
Welcome, renewal and travel benefits
| Welcome benefit | 1,000 Reward Points |
| Renewal benefit | 1,000 Reward Points every year |
| Lounge-related perk | Complimentary Priority Pass membership |
| First-year fee | Free on ₹15,000 spent within 90 days |
| PayZapp offer | ₹1,000 CashBack on in-app shopping across 200+ brands |
The Priority Pass is a membership, not a promise of free lounge visits. The product page does not state how many complimentary visits come with it, so assume visits are charged at Priority Pass rates until your card’s terms say otherwise.
The 1,000 point renewal benefit is the real reason to keep the card each year, because it offsets a good part of the renewal fee.
Fees & Charges
| Joining fee | Not published on the product page |
| Renewal fee | ₹1,000 + GST (₹1,180 all in) per year |
| Renewal waiver | Annual spends of ₹75,000 or more |
| Interest on unpaid balance | 3.49% per month (41.88% a year) |
| Cash advance fee | 2.5% of the amount, minimum ₹500 |
| Interest-free period | Up to 50 days from the date of purchase |
| Fuel surcharge waiver | 1% on transactions of ₹400 or more, up to ₹500 per cycle |
To get the fee waived you need about ₹6,250 of spends a month. Groceries, bills, online shopping and fuel on one card clear that for most households. If you fall short, you still receive 1,000 Reward Points on renewal against a ₹1,180 fee.
The charge that catches people out is the cash advance fee. Withdrawing cash costs at least ₹500, and interest at 3.49% a month applies to the balance you carry, so keep this card away from the ATM.
Eligibility & Documents Required
HDFC does not publish income or age criteria on the Superia page, and it is not accepting new applications for the card. Existing holders do not need to reapply.
For a similar card from HDFC today, the bank asks for identity proof, address proof and income proof such as salary slips or an ITR, and the criteria depend on the card you choose.
Pros & Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Low renewal fee of ₹1,180, waived at ₹75,000 spends | Closed to new applicants |
| 1,000 Reward Points as a yearly renewal benefit | Base earn of 1.5 points per ₹100 is modest |
| Points convert to AirMiles with 20+ airlines | Points expire after 2 years |
| Complimentary Priority Pass membership | Number of free lounge visits is not stated |
Superia vs Competitors
Because Superia is closed, the real comparison is against what HDFC sells now. The Regalia Gold, covered on Card Jaano, asks for a higher fee but adds spend-linked vouchers and stronger earn on selected brands.
Cashback cards from other banks with a low or zero renewal fee are simpler to use than AirMiles. If your Superia spends go on airline related redemptions, keep it. If they are everyday retail, a cashback card will usually return more.
How to Apply
You cannot. HDFC Bank states it is not accepting new applications for the Superia. Existing customers can manage the card through NetBanking, the MobileBanking app, MyCards or PayZapp, and redeem points through the same channels.
For a new HDFC card, browse the bank’s current range on its official site.

The interest rate is 3.49% per month on any outstanding amount carried past the due date, which is about 41.88% a year.

Bottom Line
Keep the Superia if you already have it, spend ₹75,000 a year on it and convert points to airline miles. It costs ₹1,180 at worst and pays 1,000 points at each renewal.
Skip it, or move on, if you want cashback, if your yearly spends are well below ₹75,000, or if you were hoping to apply: the card is closed to new customers, and its 1.5 points per ₹100 earn trails HDFC’s current offerings.
