Tata Neu Infinity SBI Card Review

Updated 31 August 2026 · By Card Jaano. Fees and features are as listed on SBI Card’s own product page on this date. Check the issuer’s site before you apply.

At a Glance

Joining Fee ₹1,499 + GST (₹1,769 all-in)
Annual Fee ₹1,499 + GST, reversed on annual spends of ₹3 lakh
Best Suited For Anyone buying across Tata brands, plus frequent international spenders
Reward Type NeuCoins, where 1 NeuCoin equals ₹1 of savings

Two numbers make this card unusual. The first is a 1.99% foreign currency markup, which is the lowest on any mainstream Indian credit card and roughly half the 3.5% most issuers charge. The second is a 1.5% floor on all other spends including UPI on the RuPay variant, which is a genuinely strong base rate at a ₹1,499 fee. Add 5% back across the Tata universe, twelve lounge visits and a fee that reverses at ₹3 lakh, and this is one of the most complete mid tier cards SBI currently sells.

Rewards & Benefits

Reward rate and earn structure

Spend category Earn rate Cap
Non-EMI spends on Tata Neu app or website and partner Tata brands 5% back as NeuCoins None published
Select categories on the Tata Neu app or website Up to 5% extra as NeuCoins None published
All other spends, including UPI on the RuPay variant 1.5% back as NeuCoins None published

The 5% applies to non-EMI spends only, so converting a large Tata purchase to instalments removes the reward. NeuCoins are credited to your NeuPass account within seven working days of the monthly statement cycle, and SBI notes that accrual follows an updated merchant ID list reviewed monthly, so which merchants count can change.

Redemption and what a NeuCoin is worth

One NeuCoin equals ₹1 of savings, redeemed on the Tata Neu app or website and at partner Tata brands. That direct rate is why the percentages here can be read at face value rather than discounted at redemption. The catch is the same as every ecosystem card: NeuCoins only spend inside the Tata world, which covers Croma, BigBasket, Westside, Tata 1mg, Air India and Taj hotels among others. That is a wide net, but it is still a net.

Welcome benefit and fee reversal

Benefit Requirement
1,499 NeuCoins, worth ₹1,499 Within 15 days of joining fee realisation
Annual fee reversal ₹3,00,000 of net retail spends in the preceding 365 days

The welcome NeuCoins match the joining fee almost exactly, so year one costs you the GST and nothing more. From year two, ₹3 lakh of net retail spends removes the fee, and SBI defines that as retail spends minus reversals over the 365 days before the fee billing date. The reversal is credited within 30 days of the fee being charged.

Lounge access, forex and fuel

Benefit Allowance
Domestic lounge visits 8 a year, 2 per quarter, on ₹75,000 spend in the previous quarter
International lounge visits 4 a year, 1 per quarter, Priority Pass worth $99 valid two years
Foreign currency markup 1.99%
Fuel surcharge waiver 1% on ₹500 to ₹4,000, max ₹500 per statement cycle

The ₹500 fuel waiver ceiling is the highest in SBI’s mid tier range, double what most ₹1,499 cards allow. The domestic lounge visits carry a ₹75,000 quarterly spend condition, so they are earned rather than automatic. Beyond the four free international visits, Priority Pass charges $27 plus taxes each.

Fees & Charges

Joining fee ₹1,499 + GST
All-in first year cost ₹1,769
Renewal fee, per annum ₹1,499 + GST from the second year
Spend needed for fee reversal ₹3,00,000 net retail spends
Foreign currency markup 1.99%
Fuel surcharge waiver 1% on ₹500 to ₹4,000, max ₹500 per statement cycle

The forex markup deserves more attention than it usually gets. On ₹5,00,000 of international spending, 1.99% costs ₹9,950 against ₹17,500 at the usual 3.5%. That ₹7,550 saving dwarfs the annual fee, which makes this card worth holding purely as a travel card even if you never touch a Tata brand.

The thing that catches people out is the EMI exclusion on the 5% rate. Croma purchases are exactly the kind of spend people convert to instalments, and doing so drops the reward from 5% to nothing on that transaction. The lounge spend condition is the second trap: ₹75,000 in a quarter is not high, but miss it and that quarter’s two visits are gone. Interest rates and cash advance charges are set out in SBI Card’s Most Important Terms and Conditions for this product.

Eligibility & Documents Required

SBI does not publish an income floor, age band or credit score cut-off for this card. It is open for online application on SBI Card’s website. Keep ready your PAN, proof of identity, proof of current address, and either recent salary slips or the last two years of income tax returns if you are self-employed. You will also want a NeuPass account, since NeuCoins are credited there. Choose the RuPay variant at application if UPI earning matters to you, because the 1.5% on UPI transactions applies to that variant.

Pros & Cons

Pros Cons
1.99% forex markup, the lowest on a mainstream Indian card NeuCoins only spend inside the Tata ecosystem
1.5% floor on all spends including UPI on RuPay EMI conversions lose the 5% Tata rate entirely
Welcome NeuCoins match the joining fee Domestic lounge needs ₹75,000 spend each quarter
₹500 fuel waiver ceiling, double most rivals Priority Pass complimentary for two years only

Tata Neu Infinity SBI Card vs Competitors

Card Annual fee Forex markup
Tata Neu Infinity SBI Card ₹1,499, reversed at ₹3 lakh 1.99%
Tata Neu Plus SBI Card Lower Higher
SBI Card PRIME Charged annually Standard SBI markup

Against the Tata Neu Plus, the Infinity earns more across the board and adds the low forex markup, so it is worth the step up for anyone who spends abroad. Against SBI Card PRIME, it wins on international spending and loses on flexibility, since PRIME’s points are not tied to one group.

How to Apply

Apply on SBI Card’s website using the button on this page, which opens the Tata Neu Infinity SBI Card product page. Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Tata Neu Infinity SBI Card annual fee waived?
It is reversed at ₹3,00,000 of net retail spends in the 365 days before the fee billing date. The reversal lands within 30 days of the fee being charged.

What is the forex markup on this card?
1.99% on international usage, which is roughly half the 3.5% most Indian credit cards charge and the strongest single feature of the card.

Do UPI transactions earn NeuCoins?
Yes, at 1.5% on the RuPay variant. That rate applies to other spends generally, UPI included, so choose RuPay at application if this matters.

How many lounge visits does the card give?
Eight domestic visits a year at two per quarter, conditional on ₹75,000 of spend in the previous quarter, plus four international visits a year at one per quarter through Priority Pass.

What is a NeuCoin worth?
₹1 of savings, redeemed on the Tata Neu app or website and at partner Tata brands. NeuCoins reach your NeuPass account within seven working days of the monthly statement.

Do EMI purchases earn 5%?
No. SBI restricts the 5% Tata rate to non-EMI spends, so converting a purchase to instalments removes the reward on that transaction.

Bottom Line

This is the best all round card in SBI’s mid tier range right now, and the 1.99% forex markup is the reason. Anyone who spends meaningfully abroad saves more on that one line than the fee costs, and the 1.5% floor with UPI included means the card earns steadily even when you are nowhere near a Tata brand. The welcome NeuCoins cover the joining fee and ₹3 lakh removes it thereafter.

Skip it if you never spend internationally and never shop at Croma, BigBasket, Westside or Tata 1mg, because at that point you are holding a 1.5% card with a spend conditional lounge benefit and there are simpler options. Skip it too if you routinely convert big purchases to EMI, since that habit removes the 5% rate exactly where you would most expect to earn it.
