Best RuPay Credit Cards in India for 2027
A RuPay credit card does one thing no Visa or Mastercard card can do in India: it links to UPI. You can scan any shop’s QR code and pay from your credit limit, earning rewards on payments that used to come straight out of your bank account.
That makes the RuPay version of a card the one most people actually use every day. But the rewards on UPI vary a lot. Some cards pay their full rate on UPI, some pay a lower rate, and some pay nothing extra at all.
We checked 15 RuPay credit cards against each bank’s own product page, fee schedule and terms. We ranked them by what you get back on everyday spending, including UPI, after the fee, and then by how easy the extra perks are to unlock.

| Minimum income | ₹1 lakh a month (salaried) |
Who should get it, and who should skip
Get it if you shop on Tata Neu, BigBasket or Croma and pay most bills by UPI.

2. Scapia Federal Bank RuPay Credit Card: Best Free Card for Travellers

Why it made the list
It costs nothing to hold and earns the same 5% coin rate on UPI as on card spends. It comes as a free companion to the Scapia Visa card.

Fees at a glance

How to Choose the Right RuPay Credit Card
How much do I pay by UPI each month? If UPI is most of your spending, pick a card that pays its full rate on UPI, like Tata Neu Infinity, Scapia or IndusInd. Cards like Eterna and Pixel Play pay less on UPI than on card swipes.
Which app do I pay with? Some cards only reward UPI inside one app. Jupiter Edge+ earns nothing outside the Jupiter app, and Tata Neu Infinity pays its top rate only through the Tata Neu UPI ID.
Can I reach the fee waiver? A ₹500 card with a ₹3.5 lakh waiver costs you every year unless you spend heavily. PNB, Union and Google Pay Flex have the easiest waivers on this list.
Do I travel abroad? RuPay is accepted at fewer places overseas. Keep a Visa or Mastercard for foreign trips, or pick a card that comes in both versions.
How We Picked These Cards
We started from every RuPay credit card open to new customers that we could check on the bank’s own website. Each fee, reward rate, cap and benefit here comes from the issuer’s product page, Key Fact Statement or terms, checked in October 2026.
We left out cards whose RuPay version we could not confirm on the bank’s own site, and cards open only to existing customers. Fees and rewards change often, so check the bank’s page before you apply.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which RuPay credit card gives the most rewards on UPI?
HDFC Tata Neu Infinity pays 1.5% on UPI through the Tata Neu UPI ID, capped at 500 NeuCoins a month. IndusInd Platinum RuPay pays about 1.2% on UPI with no published cap.
Is there a lifetime-free RuPay credit card?
Yes. Scapia Federal RuPay and AU ixigo charge no joining or annual fee, and IndusInd Platinum RuPay has no annual fee. AU describes the ixigo offer as limited-period.
Can I use a RuPay credit card on any UPI app?
Most RuPay credit cards link to GPay, PhonePe, Paytm and other UPI apps. Rewards can differ by app: Jupiter Edge+ rewards only Jupiter app payments, and IDFC FIRST EA₹N pays 1% only through the IDFC FIRST app.
Can I send money to a friend with a RuPay credit card on UPI?
No. Credit cards on UPI work only for payments to merchants, not transfers to people. Cash withdrawal is also not allowed through UPI.
Which RuPay credit card has international lounge access?
HDFC Tata Neu Infinity gives 4 international visits a year on RuPay. PNB RuPay Select and Union Bank RuPay Select each give 2 a year.
Can I get a RuPay credit card with no credit history?
Yes. The IDFC FIRST EA₹N card is issued against a fixed deposit of ₹5,000 or more, with no income proof needed.
Do RuPay credit cards work abroad?
Some do, but acceptance is limited compared with Visa and Mastercard. HSBC’s RuPay card works on the JCB network abroad, but carry a second card on foreign trips.
Bottom Line
For most people who pay mainly by UPI, the HDFC Tata Neu Infinity Credit Card is the best RuPay card in 2027. It pays 1.5% on UPI, 5% on Tata brands and adds international lounges.
If you spend under ₹3 lakh a year, the free Scapia Federal RuPay card is the better pick.
If you want simple cashback, choose the HSBC RuPay Cashback card for food and groceries. Choose HDFC Pixel Play if your spending is spread across a few apps.
Skip RuPay as your only card if you travel abroad often. Fees and features are as of October 2026, so check the bank’s site before applying.
