Best Credit Cards for Buying Shoes

I’m a shoe lover. I buy one or two new pairs every month usually Nike, Adidas or Reebok, sometimes whatever catches my eye at a footwear shop in the mall and that habit costs me somewhere between ₹10,000 and ₹12,000 a month. That’s ₹1,20,000 to ₹1,44,000 a year on shoes. For a long time I paid for all of it with a debit card or UPI and got nothing back.
Then someone asked me the obvious question: if you spend this much on shoes, why aren’t you using a credit card? So I went looking for the answer, and this article is what I found. Used properly, the right card gives me ₹4,000 to ₹11,000 a year back in cashback or points, plus access to the 10–15% bank instant-discount offers that brand stores run during sales.
If you’re like me a shoe lover who wants one or two cards that pay well on footwear, whether the purchase happens on Myntra at midnight or at the Nike store on a Saturday — this list is for you.
How I ranked these cards: by the rupee return on my own ₹12,000/month shoe budget, split 50:50 between online and offline purchases, after checking that the card’s monthly cashback cap isn’t hit at that spend level.
Where a card is placed higher or lower than its return alone would justify, I say why in its section. Every card is also shown with its return on a 100% online and 100% offline budget, so you can pick based on how you actually shop.
Fees below are exclusive of 18% GST. Fees and features are as of the update date; confirm on the issuer’s site before applying.

1. Flipkart Axis Bank Credit Card – Best Overall for Shoe Lovers
Why it made the list
Every major sports-shoe brand Nike, Adidas, Reebok, Puma, New Balance, Skechers sells on Myntra, and this card gives 7.5% cashback on every Myntra purchase, credited straight to your statement.
No other card in India pays this much on a platform that stocks shoes. And unlike a pure co-branded card, it doesn’t die at the mall: every non-partner spend, including your Saturday purchase at a brand store, earns 1.5%, which is the highest offline base rate among sub-₹1,000 cards.
On a ₹12,000/month budget split half Myntra, half mall, you’ll earn about ₹540 a month, or ₹6,480 a year, on a ₹500 annual fee. That’s why it’s number one.
Key benefits
- 7.5% cashback on Myntra, credited to your statement monthly (cap: per statement cycle)
- 5% cashback on Flipkart, including Flipkart’s own footwear listings
- 4% cashback on Cleartrip, Swiggy, PVR, Uber and cure.fit
- 1.5% cashback on all other spends, online and offline this is your mall rate
- ₹500 Flipkart voucher as welcome benefit on paying the joining fee
- 1% fuel surcharge waiver on transactions of ₹400 to ₹4,000

| Fee waiver | On ₹3,50,000 annual spend [VERIFY] |
| Interest rate | 3.6% per month, ~52.86% per annum [VERIFY] |
Who should get it / who should skip
Get it if Myntra is, or can become, your default shoe shop. One ₹6,000 Myntra order returns ₹450, which is almost the whole annual fee.
Skip it if you refuse to buy shoes online at 100% offline use, it’s just a 1.5% card, and the Amex MRCC below pays more at the mall.
2. SBI Cashback Credit Card – Best for Buying Across Brand Websites
Why it made the list
Not every shoe lover shops on one platform. If you buy the new Pegasus on nike.com, Sambas on adidas.co.in, and browse Ajio and Tata CLiQ for deals, you need a card that pays the same on every website. The SBI Cashback card does exactly that: 5% cashback on eligible online spends at any merchant, no brand list.
The card was devalued on 1 April 2026 online cashback is now capped at ₹2,000 per statement cycle, which means the 5% rate covers only ₹40,000 of monthly online spend. For a ₹12,000 shoe budget, that cap is irrelevant; you’d earn ₹600 a month with room to spare. It ranks below Flipkart Axis because 5% is less than 7.5% and its 1% offline rate is weaker.
Key benefits
- 5% cashback on eligible online spends, capped at ₹2,000 per statement cycle
- 1% cashback on offline (POS) spends, capped at ₹2,000 per statement cycle
- Total cashback capped at ₹4,000 per statement cycle
- 5% also applies to Amazon Pay gift voucher purchases, which you can use to buy brand gift cards for in-store use
- Cashback auto-credited to the statement within two days of statement generation
- Annual fee waived on ₹2,00,000 annual spend
Fees at a glance

| Annual fee | ₹999 + GST |
| Fee waiver | On ₹2,00,000 annual spend |
| Interest rate | 3.75% per month, 45% per annum |
Who should get it / who should skip
Get it if your shoe purchases are spread across three or four websites and you don’t want to think about which card to use. Skip it if you mostly buy in malls 1% offline is the lowest rate on this list or if you spend a lot on the excluded categories (rent, utilities, fuel, wallet loads, insurance, EMI), because none of that earns cashback.
3. HDFC Millennia Credit Card – Best if Shoes Are One of Many Online Spends
Why it made the list
The Millennia pays 5% on 10 partner brands, and four of them sell shoes: Myntra, Flipkart, Amazon and Tata CLiQ. The other six Swiggy, Zomato, Uber, BookMyShow, Cult.fit, Sony LIV cover the rest of a typical urban month. If your card is going to pay for shoes and dinner and cabs, this is the better all-rounder than SBI Cashback.
It ranks third because the 5% is capped at 1,000 CashPoints (₹1,000) per cycle, half of SBI’s cap, and because CashPoints need to be redeemed rather than landing automatically as cashback. At ₹12,000 of shoe spend you earn ₹600 in points, well within the cap.
Key benefits
- 5% cashback (as CashPoints) on Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra, Tata CLiQ, Swiggy, Zomato, Uber, BookMyShow, Cult.fit and Sony LIV, capped at 1,000 CashPoints per statement cycle
- 1% cashback on all other spends including offline, capped at 1,000 CashPoints per statement cycle
- 1 CashPoint = ₹1 when redeemed against your statement (₹0.30 for catalogue redemptions)
- ₹1,000 gift voucher on spending ₹1,00,000 in a calendar quarter
- Annual fee waived on ₹1,00,000 annual spend the lowest waiver threshold on this list
- 1% fuel surcharge waiver on ₹400 to ₹5,000, capped at ₹250 per cycle
Fees at a glance

| Annual fee | ₹1,000 + GST |
| Fee waiver | On ₹1,00,000 annual spend |

Who should get it / who should skip
Get it if you shop on the four partner platforms and also order food and cabs online every week; the fee waiver at ₹1,00,000 is easy to hit. Skip it if you buy shoes on brand websites (nike.com, adidas.co.in) those earn only 1% here, versus 5% on SBI Cashback.
4. American Express Membership Rewards Credit Card – Best for Mall and Brand-Store Purchases
Why it made the list
Offline shoe shopping is where most cards fall flat: 1% to 1.5% is the norm. The Amex MRCC is different because its value comes from a monthly bonus, not a base rate. Make four transactions of ₹1,500 or more in a month and you get 1,000 bonus Membership Rewards points on top of the 1 point per ₹50 you earn anyway. Two pairs of shoes plus two other purchases, and the bonus is yours.
On ₹12,000 across four transactions, that’s 240 base points plus 1,000 bonus points 1,240 points. At a conservative ₹0.25 per point that’s ₹310 a month, or 2.6%; with the better gift-voucher redemptions the value per point can be higher. That beats every sub-₹2,000 card on this list at the mall, which is why it ranks fourth despite a lower online return than the cards above it.
Key benefits
- 1 Membership Rewards point per ₹50 spent, online and offline (excludes fuel, insurance, utilities, cash)
- 1,000 bonus points every month on 4 transactions of ₹1,500 or more
- Another 1,000 bonus points on ₹20,000 monthly spend
- Points never expire
- Redeem for Amazon, Flipkart, Tanishq and other vouchers, or against the statement
- Annual fee waived on ₹1,50,000 annual spend

| Fee waiver | On ₹1,50,000 annual spend [VERIFY] |
| Interest rate | 3.5% per month, 42% per annum [VERIFY] |
Who should get it / who should skip
Get it if most of your shoe buying happens in person and you can split ₹10,000+ into at least four swipes a month. Skip it if the shops you frequent don’t accept American Express check before applying, because acceptance at smaller mall outlets is still patchy or if you want cashback in the statement without managing points.
5. Amazon Pay ICICI Credit Card – Best Lifetime-Free Option
Why it made the list
If you’re not sure you’ll keep spending ₹12,000 a month on shoes forever, a card with no fee at all is the safe pick. The Amazon Pay ICICI is lifetime free and pays 5% on Amazon for Prime members (3% without Prime), which covers a large part of the Nike, Adidas, Reebok and Puma catalogues. There’s no monthly cap on the cashback.
It ranks fifth because its value collapses the moment you leave Amazon: 2% at Amazon Pay partner merchants and just 1% everywhere else, including malls.
Key benefits
- 5% cashback on Amazon.in for Prime members, 3% for non-Prime, with no monthly cap
- 2% cashback at 100+ Amazon Pay partner merchants
- 1% cashback on all other spends, online and offline
- Cashback credited as Amazon Pay balance, which you can spend on your next pair
- Nil joining fee, nil annual fee, no spend conditions
- 1% fuel surcharge waiver

| Item | Amount |
|---|---|
| Joining fee | Nil |
| Annual fee | Nil |
| Fee waiver | Not applicable |
| Interest rate | 3.75% per month, 45% per annum [VERIFY] |
Who should get it / who should skip
Get it if you already have Prime and buy most of your shoes on Amazon, or as a zero-cost second card for Amazon-only spends. Skip it as your main shoe card if you prefer Myntra or Ajio, where it pays only 1%.
6. HDFC Tata Neu Infinity Credit Card – Best for Tata CLiQ and Westside Shoppers
Why it made the list
Tata CLiQ stocks Nike, Adidas, Puma, Skechers and Woodland, and Westside has its own footwear range. On both, this card pays 5% back as NeuCoins (1 NeuCoin = ₹1). Everywhere else – including the Nike store in a non-Tata mall it pays 1.5%, matching the best offline base rate on this list.
On a 50:50 split with Tata CLiQ as the online half, it returns ₹4,680 a year, which is actually more than SBI Cashback or Millennia. It ranks sixth because NeuCoins can only be spent within the Tata ecosystem (Tata CLiQ, BigBasket, Croma, Air India, Taj), so the “cash” isn’t cash.
Key benefits
- 5% NeuCoins on Tata Neu and partner Tata brands, including Tata CLiQ and Westside
- 1.5% NeuCoins on all other spends, online and offline
- Additional 5% NeuCoins on Tata Neu app purchases after registering
- 1,499 NeuCoins as welcome benefit on paying the joining fee
- 8 domestic lounge visits per year, 2 per quarter, on ₹50,000 quarterly spend
- Annual fee waived on ₹3,00,000 annual spend
Fees at a glance
| Item | Amount |

| Annual fee | ₹1,499 + GST |
| Fee waiver | On ₹3,00,000 annual spend |
| Interest rate | 3.75% per month, 45% per annum |
Who should get it / who should skip
Get it if Tata CLiQ or Westside is where you buy shoes and you use BigBasket or Croma regularly enough to spend the coins. Skip it if you have no Tata-ecosystem spends; a card that pays in coupons you can’t use is worse than a 1% cashback card.
7. Axis Bank ACE Credit Card – Best Simple Offline Cashback
Why it made the list
Sometimes you just want a card that pays the same everywhere, with cash in the statement and nothing to redeem. The ACE gives a flat 1.5% on all spends, online or offline, on top of 5% on bill payments via Google Pay and 4% on Swiggy, Zomato and Ola (the 5% and 4% together capped at ₹500 per month).
It ranks seventh because 1.5% flat is the floor, not the ceiling, for shoes. It’s here because it’s the cheapest card on the list at ₹499 with a fee waiver at ₹2,00,000, and because it’s often the easiest to get approved for among Axis cards.
Key benefits
- 1.5% cashback on all spends, online and offline, with no cap
- 5% cashback on electricity, mobile and DTH bills paid via Google Pay
- 4% cashback on Swiggy, Zomato and Ola
- 5% and 4% categories together capped at ₹500 per statement cycle
- 4 complimentary domestic lounge visits per year [VERIFY current status]
- Annual fee waived on ₹2,00,000 annual spend
Fees at a glance
| Item | Amount |

| Annual fee | ₹499 + GST |
| Fee waiver | On ₹2,00,000 annual spend |
| Interest rate | 3.75% per month, 55.55% per annum [VERIFY] |
Who should get it / who should skip
Get it if you want one uncomplicated card and most of your shoe money goes to physical stores. Skip it if you already hold the Flipkart Axis card it pays the same 1.5% offline and more online, so the ACE adds nothing.
8. HDFC Infinia Credit Card (Metal) Highest Offline Rate, If You’re Eligible
Why it made the list
The Infinia earns 5 reward points per ₹150 on every spend, and each point is worth ₹1 on flights and hotels via SmartBuy or ₹0.30 to ₹0.50 on vouchers and statement credit. At the ₹1 valuation that’s 3.33% on every purchase, including your mall buys more than double any card above.
It is placed last, not first, for one reason: eligibility. The card is largely invite-only and typically requires a net monthly income of around ₹2,10,000 or existing HDFC relationship. If you qualify, it belongs at the top of your list; if you don’t, the seven cards above are where you should be looking.
Key benefits
- 5 reward points per ₹150 on all spends, online and offline (3.33% at ₹1 per point)
- Up to 10X points on SmartBuy flight and hotel bookings, plus select vouchers
- 12,500 reward points as welcome benefit, equal to the joining fee
- Unlimited domestic and international lounge access for primary and add-on cards
- 2% forex markup
- Annual fee waived on ₹10,00,000 annual spend
Fees at a glance
| Item | Amount |
|---|---|
| Joining fee | ₹12,500 + GST |
| Annual fee | ₹12,500 + GST |
| Fee waiver | On ₹10,00,000 annual spend |
| Interest rate | 1.99% per month, 23.88% per annum |
Who should get it / who should skip
Get it if you already qualify and your total spends are north of ₹10,00,000 a year, so the fee is waived and the shoe spend rides free at 3.33%. Skip it or rather, don’t chase it if a ₹12,500 fee would need to be justified by shoe purchases alone. It can’t be.
How to Choose the Right Credit Card for Shoes
Where do you actually buy your shoes? This matters more than any card feature. Online on one platform: get that platform’s card (Flipkart Axis for Myntra, Amazon Pay ICICI for Amazon). Online across many sites: SBI Cashback. Mostly in malls: Amex MRCC or a 1.5% flat card, and lean on bank instant-discount offers.
Can you move even half your purchases online? The same Nike pair earns ₹450 on Myntra with the Flipkart Axis card and ₹90 at the Nike store. If the price is the same, the online purchase is worth ₹360 more every time. Two cards on this list (Flipkart Axis, SBI Cashback) are only worth their fee if you do this.
Will you hit the monthly cap? At ₹12,000 a month, no card here caps you. If you’re also routing groceries, food and bills through the same card, check: Millennia caps 5% earnings at ₹1,000 a month, SBI Cashback at ₹2,000.
Do you want cashback or points? Flipkart Axis, SBI Cashback, Amazon Pay ICICI and Axis ACE put cash in your statement or wallet automatically. Millennia, MRCC, Tata Neu and Infinia pay in points that need redemption, and the value depends on how you redeem.
Will you clear the fee waiver? ₹1,44,000 of annual shoe spend alone clears the waiver on Millennia (₹1,00,000) and nearly clears SBI Cashback and ACE (₹2,00,000). It won’t touch Flipkart Axis’s ₹3,50,000 or Tata Neu’s ₹3,00,000 those fees you’ll pay, so weigh them against the return.
How I Picked These Cards
I started with every Indian credit card that pays 5% or more on at least one platform that sells footwear (Myntra, Flipkart, Amazon, Ajio, Tata CLiQ, brand websites), plus every card with an offline base rate of 1.5% or higher.
I then calculated the return on a ₹12,000 monthly shoe budget in three scenarios 100% online, 50:50, 100% offline and ranked by the 50:50 figure.
Cards with a lower return but a clearly distinct use case (lifetime-free, Tata ecosystem, simple flat cashback) were kept if no higher-ranked card served that use case; cards that duplicated a higher-ranked card’s strengths were dropped.
All fees and rates were checked against issuer pages and the April 2026 SBI Cashback revision. Figures I could not confirm are marked and will be updated.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Which credit card gives the highest cashback on shoes in India? The Flipkart Axis Bank Credit Card, at 7.5% cashback on Myntra, is the highest rate on a platform that sells major shoe brands. For shoes bought on brand websites like nike.com, the SBI Cashback card’s flat 5% is the best. No card offers a special rate on shoes bought in physical stores.
Is there a credit card with 5% cashback on Nike or Adidas stores? No. Physical brand stores earn a card’s base rate 1% to 1.5% on most cards, 3.33% on the HDFC Infinia. What Nike, Adidas and Reebok stores do run are bank instant-discount offers of 10% to 15% during sale periods, tied to specific banks’ cards. Ask the store which offer is live before you pay.
Can I earn 5% on a mall purchase by buying a gift card online? Often, yes. Buying a Nike, Adidas or Puma e-gift card via Amazon Pay or a bank’s rewards portal with the SBI Cashback or HDFC Millennia card earns the online 5%, and the voucher is then redeemed in-store. The SBI Cashback card explicitly pays 5% on Amazon Pay gift voucher purchases. Check the brand’s voucher terms, as in-store redemption rules vary.
Is the SBI Cashback card still worth it after the April 2026 changes? Yes, for a ₹12,000/month shoe budget. The 5% online rate is unchanged; only the cap dropped, to ₹2,000 per statement cycle, which binds at ₹40,000 of online spend. You’d earn ₹600 a month with the cap nowhere in sight. It’s heavy online spenders above ₹40,000 a month who lost value.
Which shoe card is lifetime free? The Amazon Pay ICICI Credit Card has no joining or annual fee and no spend condition. It pays 5% on Amazon for Prime members and 1% elsewhere, so it works best as a dedicated Amazon card rather than a general shoe card.
Does the Flipkart Axis card give cashback on offline purchases? Yes, 1.5% on all non-partner spends, online or offline, including brand stores and mall footwear shops. That is the highest offline rate among cards with a fee under ₹1,000, which is why it works as a single card even for mixed shoppers.
Is the Flipkart Axis card annual fee waived? Yes, on ₹3,50,000 of annual spend. Shoe spend alone won’t get you there, so budget for the ₹500 + GST fee. At 7.5% on Myntra, one ₹6,700 order recovers it.
What is the minimum salary for the HDFC Millennia card? HDFC’s stated requirement is a net monthly income of ₹35,000 for salaried applicants and an annual ITR of ₹6,00,000 for self-employed applicants. Approval also depends on your credit history and existing HDFC relationship; meeting the income threshold doesn’t guarantee a card.
Which two cards should a shoe lover combine? Flipkart Axis Bank (or SBI Cashback if you shop across many websites) for online, plus Amex MRCC for mall purchases. Holding cards from two different banks also increases your chances of matching the bank instant-discount offers at brand stores, which rotate between HDFC, ICICI, Axis and SBI.
Do these cards earn cashback on EMI purchases of shoes? Mostly no. SBI Cashback and HDFC Millennia exclude EMI transactions from cashback, and most other issuers do the same. If you convert a shoe purchase to EMI, assume you’ll earn nothing on it unless the issuer’s MITC (Most Important Terms and Conditions) says otherwise.
Bottom Line
For the shoe lover who buys online, or can: get the Flipkart Axis Bank Credit Card. 7.5% on Myntra covers every major shoe brand, 1.5% catches everything else, and the fee is the lowest on this list. If you’d rather buy from nike.com, adidas.co.in and Ajio directly, take the SBI Cashback Credit Card instead for its flat 5% on any website.
For the shoe lover who buys in malls: get the American Express Membership Rewards Credit Card as your store card the monthly 1,000-point bonus turns two pairs of shoes into a 2.5%+ return and pair it with the Flipkart Axis card for the occasional online order.
Who should not get any of these: if you pay only the minimum due and carry a balance, the 42% to 55% annual interest on these cards will wipe out a year of cashback in a single month. Buy the shoes on a debit card until you can pay in full.
