PNB Launches LUXURA and Parakram Credit Cards for Indian Army Personnel

Punjab National Bank has signed an exclusive MoU with the Indian Army to issue two rank-linked credit cards: the PNB LUXURA Metal Credit Card for Commissioned Officers and the PNB Parakram Credit Card for JCOs and Other Ranks. Both carry 3% cashback on Canteen Stores Department (CSD) spends, zero forex markup and airport lounge access. The MoU was signed at Army HQ, Delhi on 20 August 2026.

Both cards also carry buy-one-get-one movie tickets, complimentary golf lessons and a fuel surcharge waiver. Age limit is 70 years and the stated CIBIL cut-off is 700 and above on both. Fees are exclusive of GST; 18% applies on top, so the officer annual fee actually bills at ₹2,359.

The Army-specific fee and limit terms above come from banking-industry reporting of PNB’s internal circular, not from the press release itself — treat them as provisional until PNB’s card pages go live.

Who Is Affected

Only Indian Army personnel — serving and retired. Navy and Air Force personnel are not covered by this MoU. Existing PNB cardholders in the Army are not migrated automatically; this is a new application, not an upgrade of the card you already hold. Family members and dependents do not qualify in their own right, though add-on cards follow PNB’s normal rules.

What This Means for You

The real story here is the fee structure, not the perks list. The publicly available PNB LUXURA Visa Infinite charges a ₹4,999 + GST joining fee and requires ₹1,50,000 of spends in three billing cycles to get it reimbursed. Officers reportedly pay nothing to join. That is roughly ₹5,900 of first-year cost removed.

On the cashback, do the arithmetic before you get excited about “3%”. An officer needs ₹78,700 of annual CSD spending — about ₹6,600 a month — just to cover the ₹2,359 annual fee out of cashback. Most officers who buy their monthly rations through CSD will clear that comfortably. The cap bites only above ₹1,00,000 of CSD spend in a single cycle, which almost nobody will hit.

For JCOs and Other Ranks the card is unambiguously worth taking: zero joining fee, zero annual fee, and a ₹1,500 monthly cashback ceiling that a family spending ₹50,000 a month at the canteen would need to exceed before losing anything. A household putting ₹15,000 a month through CSD earns about ₹5,400 a year on a card that costs nothing to hold.

Watch the interest rate, though. LUXURA’s finance charge runs at 2.95% per month, which annualises to 35.89% — a rate that erases several years of CSD cashback if you revolve a balance even occasionally. These cards reward people who pay in full.

Bottom line: take the Parakram if you shop at CSD at all — a free card with a real cashback rate has no downside. Take the LUXURA if you fly, spend abroad, or spend over ₹6,600 a month at CSD. Skip it if you carry a balance month to month, or if your CSD spending is occasional and you already hold a zero forex markup travel card with better base rewards.

FAQs

Can retired Army personnel apply? Yes. Both cards are open to serving and retired personnel, subject to the age-70 limit and a CIBIL score of 700 or above.

Is the Parakram card really lifetime free? Joining and annual fees are both nil as announced. PNB has not published a spend condition attached to the waiver, but confirm on the application page before applying.

Does the 3% cashback apply to all spends or only CSD? Only CSD purchases earn the 3%. Other spends earn the standard reward rate on each card — see our PNB credit cards hub for the base earn rates.

Are Navy and Air Force personnel eligible? Not under this MoU, which is specific to the Indian Army. PNB has not indicated whether similar tie-ups are planned with the other services.

What to Watch Next

PNB has not yet published dedicated application pages or a Most Important Terms and Conditions (MITC) document for either Army variant. Expect those within weeks, and expect the fine print on lounge partners, the CSD merchant category codes that qualify, and whether the cashback posts as statement credit or reward points. We’ll update this post when the official terms land.
