| Joining Fee | Annual Fee | Best Suited For | Reward Type |
|---|---|---|---|
| ₹250 + GST (waived on ₹10,000 spend in 90 days) | ₹250 + GST (waived on ₹50,000 spend in a year) | First-time card users, UPI spenders, PayZapp users | Cashback as PIXEL CashPoints |
The HDFC Bank PIXEL Go is the entry-level card in HDFC’s digital-only PIXEL family. You apply, activate, track spends and repay inside the PayZapp app, with no paper statement and no branch visit.
The reward structure is deliberately simple: 1% cashback on eligible spends, 5% on SmartBuy, and 1% on UPI spends if you hold the RuPay version. There are no merchant packs to choose and no billing-cycle gymnastics.
That makes it a sensible first card, and a low-effort backup card for someone who already owns a premium one. This review covers what it earns, what it costs, who qualifies, and where the limits are.
Rewards & Benefits
Reward rate and earn structure
HDFC’s product page lists three earn rates. You get 1% cashback on eligible transactions, 5% cashback on eligible purchases made through HDFC’s SmartBuy portal, and 1% cashback on UPI spends.
The UPI benefit applies only to the RuPay version of the card. The page does not publish a monthly cap or a list of excluded categories on the page itself, so read the product-specific terms linked from the card page before assuming every spend earns.
| Spend type | Cashback |
|---|---|
| Eligible everyday spends | 1% |
| SmartBuy purchases | 5% |
| UPI spends (RuPay only) | 1% |
| Swiggy Dineout restaurant bills | Up to 10% savings |
Redemption and point value
Cashback arrives as PIXEL CashPoints, visible in the rewards section of the PIXEL home screen in PayZapp.
Once you hold 500 CashPoints you can move them to your PayZapp Wallet or spend them on brand vouchers inside PayZapp.
CashPoints stay valid for 2 years from the date they are earned. HDFC’s page does not state the rupee value of one CashPoint, so the cleanest way to test it is to redeem the first 500 and see what lands in the wallet.
Welcome, milestone and everyday perks
There is no welcome gift. The only milestone is a fee one: spend ₹10,000 within 90 days of issuance and the joining fee is waived.
After that, spend ₹50,000 or more in the preceding 12 months and the renewal fee is waived for the next year.
On fuel, you get a 1% surcharge waiver at fuel stations across India on transactions between ₹400 and ₹5,000, with a maximum waiver of ₹250 per statement cycle.
For dining, paying restaurant bills through Swiggy Dineout gets you up to 10% savings.
Everyday features
- Tap & Pay contactless payments at shops, and Swipe to Pay for OTP-free online payments
- Scan & Pay through UPI on the RuPay variant
- One-click EMI conversion of purchases or your outstanding balance from PayZapp
- Up to 50 days of interest-free credit from the date of purchase
- Zero lost-card liability if you report a loss to the 24-hour call centre
The card does not list airport lounge access, so do not expect it. If you apply through PayZapp you can choose Visa, RuPay or both within 3 days of approval.
After that window you get both: RuPay as a digital card and Visa as the physical card, billed on one consolidated statement.
Fees & Charges
| Charge | Amount |
|---|---|
| Joining fee | ₹250 + applicable taxes |
| Renewal fee | ₹250 + applicable taxes |
| Joining fee waiver | Spend ₹10,000 within 90 days |
| Renewal fee waiver | Spend ₹50,000 or more in the preceding 12 months |
| Fuel surcharge waiver | 1% on ₹400 to ₹5,000, max ₹250 per cycle |
| Interest-free period | Up to 50 days |
With 18% GST, the ₹250 fee works out to about ₹295. To skip it in year one you need ₹10,000 of spends in 90 days, which is easy if you move a phone bill, a few grocery orders and your electricity payment onto the card. For later years, ₹50,000 a year is about ₹4,200 a month.
One point needs care. HDFC’s banner says the card is lifetime free only when you apply online, yet the fee table still shows ₹250. Check the offer screen in PayZapp at the time you apply to see which one you are being given.
Interest rate, late payment slabs, forex markup and cash advance charges are in the card’s Most Important Terms and Conditions rather than on the product page, so read that document before you carry a balance.

- Pro: 5% on SmartBuy and 1% on UPI for RuPay holders
- Pro: Fully digital, with FD-backed approval for those without a score
- Con: Only 1% on general spends, and no lounge access
- Con: Caps and CashPoint value are not on the product page
PIXEL Go vs Competitors
Inside the family, PIXEL Play costs ₹500 but lets you pick two 5% merchant packs and a 3% e-commerce platform.
Go is the cheaper, simpler version. Among free-tier cards from other issuers, Go competes on its UPI cashback and its ₹250 fee, which a ₹50,000 yearly spend erases.
If you spend heavily on one e-commerce site, a co-branded cashback card will usually beat 1%, so compare the numbers for your own month before choosing.
How to Apply
Applications run only through the HDFC Bank PayZapp app. Download or update PayZapp, tap the Apply Now banner for the PIXEL credit card on the home screen, and complete the steps.
After approval, open PayZapp, find the PIXEL Go nudge, choose your billing cycle date, confirm your email and tap Activate & Proceed. Complete the card setup quickly, because HDFC notes it is needed for timely delivery of the physical card.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the HDFC PIXEL Go annual fee waived?
Yes, with conditions. The fee is ₹250 plus taxes, and spending ₹50,000 or more in the preceding 12 months waives the renewal fee. For the joining fee, spend ₹10,000 within 90 days of issuance.
HDFC also advertises the card as lifetime free when you apply online, so check what your offer screen shows.
What cashback does PIXEL Go give?
It gives 1% on eligible spends, 5% on SmartBuy purchases and 1% on UPI spends if you hold the RuPay card. Cashback is credited as PIXEL CashPoints in PayZapp.
What is the minimum salary for PIXEL Go?
A salaried applicant needs ₹12,000 monthly income and must be 21 to 60 years old. Self-employed applicants need an annual ITR above ₹6,00,000 and an age of 21 to 65.
Does PIXEL Go have lounge access?
No. HDFC’s page lists no airport lounge benefit for this card.
How do I redeem PIXEL CashPoints?
You can redeem once you reach 500 CashPoints. They go to your PayZapp Wallet or to brand vouchers in PayZapp, and each CashPoint stays valid for 2 years.
Can I get PIXEL Go without a salary slip?
Yes, through the FD-backed variant. You apply in PayZapp against a fixed deposit, no income proof or credit score is needed, and the limit can go up to 90% of the FD value.
Is there a fuel benefit?
Yes, a 1% fuel surcharge waiver on transactions between ₹400 and ₹5,000, capped at ₹250 per statement cycle.
Bottom Line
PIXEL Go is a good fit if you are new to credit, want a PayZapp-first card, or pay mostly by UPI on a RuPay card and want a small return on it. The ₹250 fee is easy to waive and the income bar is low.
Skip it if you want lounge access, welcome gifts or more than 1% on general spends, or if you spend a lot on one e-commerce platform; PIXEL Play or a dedicated co-branded card will serve you better.
Do not rely on it as your only card for big-ticket purchases without checking the caps in the terms first.
