Pay Income Tax With Any Credit Card: IDFC FIRST Bank Opens Its CBDT Payment Gateway

IDFC FIRST Bank has switched on a payment gateway for Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) collections, so income tax, advance tax and other direct taxes can now be paid through it with a credit card, debit card, UPI or net banking.
The bank announced it in a press release on 24 September 2026. Its own user guide lists “all major credit cards” at checkout.

What This Means for You
On the e-Filing portal, create the challan, pick “Payment Gateway”, choose IDFC FIRST Bank and pay by card.
It helps if you want a few extra interest-free days before the 15 December advance-tax instalment, or need to cross a milestone.
Before you pay, check the convenience charge on the fee screen, and check whether your own card gives reward points on tax payments many issuers exclude them.
