The BOBCARD PREMIER Credit Card is the mid-range travel card from BOBCARD, the credit card company of Bank of Baroda. It pays 5X reward points, worth 2.5% back, on dining, travel and international spends, and gives you one domestic airport lounge visit each quarter.

From 1 September 2026 BOBCARD has dropped the joining fee as a limited-period offer, and the ₹1,000 annual fee goes away if you spend ₹1.2 lakh a year. The fine print is heavier than the page suggests, so this review covers the exclusions too.

Rewards & Benefits

Reward rate and earn structure

Spend Points per ₹100 Value back
Dining, travel and international spends (5X) 10, capped at 2,000 points a statement cycle 2.5%
All other eligible spends 2 0.5%
Fuel, rent, wallet loads, education, government, insurance, hospitals, supermarkets, fast food and other excluded categories 0 Nil

The 2,000-point cap is reached at ₹20,000 of 5X spends in a cycle. Anything beyond that earns the regular 2 points per ₹100.

Dining means restaurant merchant code 5812 and travel means travel agency code 4722, so a meal at a fast food chain or a ticket bought directly from an airline may only earn the base rate or nothing.

Transactions below ₹100 earn no points, UPI spends never get 5X, and utility bills earn only the base rate.

Book flights and hotels through BOBCARD SmartDeal in the BOBCARD app and you get extra points on top: 8 points per ₹100 on flights and 20 points per ₹100 on hotels.

Redemption and point value

Points are redeemed as cashback against your card balance at 1 point = ₹0.25. Points earned in a cycle become available after that statement is generated.

If you spend ₹20,000 a month on dining and travel, you earn 24,000 points a year at the 5X rate, worth ₹6,000. On ₹1.2 lakh of ordinary spends, the amount that waives the fee, you earn 2,400 points, worth ₹600.

Fees & Charges

Charge Amount
Joining fee Nil from 1 September 2026, limited-period offer
Annual fee ₹1,000 + GST, waived on ₹1,20,000 spends
Interest rate 3.75% a month (45% a year)
Cash withdrawal fee 2.5% of the amount, minimum ₹500
Late payment fee ₹100 to ₹1,300, by statement balance; ₹750 on a ₹1,001 to ₹10,000 balance
Over-limit fee 2.5% of the excess, minimum ₹600
Forex markup 3.5%
Rent and wallet loads 1% fee
Utility bills of ₹50,000 or more 1%, up to ₹3,000 a transaction
Fuel bills of ₹10,000 or more 1%

GST at 18% applies to every fee and to interest. To hit the ₹1.2 lakh waiver you need ₹10,000 of spends a month, which is easy if this is your main card.

The charge that catches people out is the 3.5% forex markup. International spends earn 2.5% back, but only on the first ₹20,000 of 5X spends in a cycle, so every foreign purchase still leaves you at least 1% worse off.

Eligibility & Documents Required

You need to be an Indian resident aged 25 to 55, salaried or self-employed, with a net annual income above ₹7.2 lakh.

Keep a recent passport-size photo, your PAN card, an address proof such as Aadhaar, a passport, a voter ID or a driving licence, and income proof. Salaried applicants should keep two months of bank statements showing salary credits.

Pros & Cons

Pros Cons
2.5% back on dining, travel and international spends 5X capped at 2,000 points a cycle
No joining fee under the current offer Supermarkets, fast food and insurance earn nothing
Easy ₹1.2 lakh fee waiver 3.5% forex markup on a travel card
Up to 3 free add-on cards Just 4 lounge visits a year, each with a spend condition

PREMIER vs Competitors

Feature BOBCARD Select BOBCARD PREMIER BOBCARD Eterna

Waiver spend ₹70,000 ₹1,20,000 ₹2,50,000
Base points per ₹100 1 2 3
5X cap a cycle 1,000 2,000 5,000
Domestic lounge None 1 a quarter Unlimited on ₹75,000 a quarter
Forex markup 3.5% 3.5% 2%

Fees are plus GST. Eterna is the better card if you spend ₹2.5 lakh a year, because it pays a higher base rate, a higher 5X cap and a lower forex markup. Select suits lighter spenders who mainly shop online.

Yes, the ₹1,000 + GST fee is waived when you spend ₹1,20,000 in the previous card year and have no overdue payments.

How many lounge visits does BOBCARD PREMIER give?

One domestic airport lounge visit a quarter, so four a year. Each needs ₹20,000 of spends in the previous calendar quarter, except in your first quarter.

What is the minimum salary for BOBCARD PREMIER?

A net annual income above ₹7.2 lakh, which is about ₹60,000 a month. You must also be between 25 and 55 years old.

What is a BOBCARD reward point worth?

₹0.25 when redeemed as cashback. That makes the 5X rate worth 2.5% and the base rate worth 0.5%.

Does BOBCARD PREMIER come with insurance?

Not for new cards. BOBCARD removed air and non-air accident cover from PREMIER cards issued after 15 July 2026.

Bottom Line

Get the BOBCARD PREMIER if you bank with Bank of Baroda, earn over ₹7.2 lakh and spend around ₹20,000 a month on restaurants and travel bookings.

At that level it returns about ₹6,000 a year, the fee is waived and four lounge visits come as a bonus.

Skip it if your spends are mostly groceries, fuel, insurance or UPI, which earn little or nothing. Skip it too if you travel abroad often, since the 3.5% markup cancels the 5X rate. Frequent travellers who can spend ₹2.5 lakh a year will get more from BOBCARD Eterna.
