The Axis Bank REWARDS Credit Card is an entry-level points card with two ways to earn well. It pays 10X points at apparel and department stores, and a 1,500-point bonus every month you spend ₹30,000.
Outside those two, the base rate is a thin 0.32%. Axis is also running it as lifetime free on the Amex network for now, but that version loses the welcome and renewal benefits.
This review shows what the card returns at different spend levels and which variant to pick.
Rewards & Benefits
Reward rate and earn structure
| Spend | EDGE REWARD Points per ₹125 | Value |
|---|---|---|
| Apparel and department stores | 20, on up to ₹7,000 a statement month | 3.2% |
| All other eligible spends | 2, no cap | 0.32% |
| Fuel, rent, wallet loads, utilities, telecom, insurance, education, government, transport and tolls, gift cards | 0 | Nil |
The 10X rate is 2 base points plus 18 bonus points. The bonus is capped at 1,008 points a statement month, which is ₹7,000 of spends, so the most it adds is about ₹202 a month.
Above ₹7,000 at these stores you drop to the base 2 points. Axis decides what counts by the merchant category code, so a clothing brand billed under another code earns only the base rate.
Redemption and point value
Axis values each EDGE REWARD Point at ₹0.20. That makes 2 points per ₹125 worth 40 paise, a 0.32% return.
You can redeem from the EDGE catalogue from 300 points, or use Pay by Rewards to adjust points against your card bill, from 2,500 up to 1 lakh points. Points can also move to airline and hotel partners on Axis’s Travel EDGE portal.
Points stay valid for 3 years from the date you earn them, and Axis charges no redemption fee.
Welcome, milestone and renewal benefits
| Benefit | What you get | Condition |
|---|---|---|
| Welcome | 5,000 points (₹1,000) | ₹1,000 of spends within 30 days of issue |
| Monthly milestone | 1,500 points (₹300) | ₹30,000 of net spends in a statement month |
| Renewal memberships | Bouquet worth up to ₹1,000 | After paying the annual fee |
The milestone is what makes this card. Spend exactly ₹30,000 in a month and you earn 480 base points plus 1,500 bonus points, worth ₹396 or 1.32% back.
Gift cards, insurance, wallet loads, rent, cash and EMI conversions do not count towards the ₹30,000. The welcome points arrive about 50 days after the card is issued.
Lifetime free and migrated cards get neither the welcome points nor the renewal memberships.
Lounge, dining and fuel
| Benefit | Allowance and condition |
|---|---|
| Domestic airport lounge | 2 visits a quarter, on ₹50,000 of spends in the previous 3 calendar months |
| Swiggy | ₹150 off orders of ₹500 or more with code AXISREWARDS, twice a calendar month |
| Fuel surcharge waiver | 1% on transactions of ₹400 to ₹5,000, up to ₹400 a statement cycle |
There is no international lounge access. Axis Dining Delights and Wednesday Delight offers also apply, but their discounts change through the year.
Fees & Charges
| Charge | Amount |
|---|---|
| Joining fee | ₹1,000 + GST (Nil on Amex, limited period) |
| Annual fee | ₹1,000 + GST, waived on ₹2 lakh of spends in the card year |
| Forex markup | 3.5% |
| Interest rate | 3.75% a month (55.55% a year) |
| Cash withdrawal fee | 2.5% of the amount, minimum ₹500 |
| Late payment fee | Nil up to ₹500 due; ₹500, ₹750, ₹1,200 or ₹1,300 above that |
| Over-limit fee | 2.5% of the over-limit amount, minimum ₹500 |
| Rent and third-party education payments | 1% per transaction |
| Wallet loads and online gaming | 1% once spends reach ₹10,000 a cycle |
| Utilities | 1% once spends reach ₹25,000 a cycle |
| Fuel | 1% once spends reach ₹50,000 a cycle |
| Cash payment at branch | ₹175 |
Fees are from Axis Bank’s card page and card terms as of October 2026, and 18% GST applies on top. Rent, wallet loads and gift cards do not count towards the ₹2 lakh waiver.
If you already spend ₹30,000 a month for the milestone, you cross ₹2 lakh in about 7 months, so the fee is easy to clear.
The charge to watch is interest. Axis quotes 55.55% a year once monthly compounding is counted, higher than the 45% most banks quote for the same 3.75% a month.
Eligibility & Documents Required
You must be an Indian resident aged 18 to 70. Axis Bank does not publish a minimum income for this card, so the limit and approval depend on its own assessment.
Keep your PAN card, a recent payslip, Form 16 or ITR as income proof, and a residence proof such as your passport or an electricity bill. Axis says the list can vary from case to case.
Pros & Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| 1,500-point bonus every ₹30,000 month | Base return of only 0.32% |
| 3.2% at apparel and department stores | 10X capped at ₹7,000 a month |
| Lifetime free on Amex for now | Free version loses welcome and renewal benefits |
| No redemption fee, 3-year point validity | Long list of categories that earn nothing |
Axis Rewards vs Competitors
| Feature | Axis Rewards | IDFC FIRST Select | ICICI Rubyx |
|---|---|---|---|
| Annual fee | ₹1,000, waived at ₹2 lakh | Nil | ₹2,000, waived at ₹3 lakh |
| Base return | 0.32%, 1.32% with the monthly milestone | 0.375%; 1.25% on dining and travel | 2 points per ₹100 |
| Forex markup | 3.5% | Zero | 3.5% |
Fees are plus GST. If you cannot hit ₹30,000 every month, the IDFC FIRST Select Credit Card pays more on everyday spends and charges nothing abroad, though it asks for ₹12 lakh of income.
Axis Rewards wins for steady ₹30,000 spenders, and ICICI Rubyx suits people who want golf and more lifestyle perks.

Bottom Line
Get the Axis Bank REWARDS Credit Card if you put ₹30,000 a month on one card and buy clothes at department stores. The monthly milestone lifts your return to about 1.3%, and the fee is waived well before the year ends.
Pick the paid variant if you want the ₹1,000 welcome points and renewal memberships.
Skip it if your spends are uneven or below ₹30,000 a month, because the 0.32% base rate is very low. Skip it too if you pay big utility bills or travel abroad.
