RBL Bank Jalsa Credit Card Review: Is It Worth ₹999?

At a Glance

Joining Fee ₹999 + GST (₹1,179 all-in), charged after your first transaction
Annual Fee ₹999 + GST every year, with no spend-based waiver published
Best Suited For People who order regularly from Blinkit, Zepto, Swiggy, Zomato, Myntra and Flipkart, in many small orders
Reward Type Monthly cashback claimed in the RBL MyBank app, plus reward points for the welcome and milestone gifts

The RBL Bank Jalsa Credit Card is built around one number: 5% cashback on nine everyday apps, including Blinkit, Zepto, Swiggy, Zomato, Myntra and Flipkart.

It runs on RuPay, so you can also link it to UPI. The fee is ₹999 a year and RBL publishes no way to have it waived, which makes the arithmetic more important than on most cards.

RBL markets the card as giving “7X value back” on the fee. That is true only if you max out every benefit, and the cashback has a per-order cap that changes how you should use it. Here is the full picture.

Rewards & Benefits

Reward rate and earn structure

Benefit Rate Cap
Blinkit, Zepto, Swiggy, Zomato, Myntra, Flipkart, AJIO, Meesho, Urban Company 5% cashback ₹50 per transaction and ₹500 per calendar month
Annual milestone 2,500 reward points (₹500 voucher) Once a membership year, on ₹3,00,000 of eligible spends
All other spends No base earn rate published Not applicable

The ₹50 limit per transaction is the detail that matters. Any single order above ₹1,000 earns no extra cashback, so a ₹4,000 Myntra order returns ₹50, which is 1.25% and not 5%.

To collect the full ₹500 a month you need ₹10,000 of spends on these apps, split across at least ten orders of ₹1,000 or less. Grocery and food delivery orders usually fit that pattern; a big fashion or electronics purchase does not.

Cashback is not automatic either. Each month, on the 3rd, a claim banner appears in the RBL MyBank app. You must open it and confirm with an OTP within three calendar months, and the cashback is credited within 15 days of the claim.

Welcome and milestone benefits

The welcome gift is a ₹1,000 voucher. The product page calls it a Quick Commerce voucher, while the card’s terms describe it as 5,000 reward points to be redeemed for a ₹1,000 voucher on the rewards portal.

Either way, you qualify by making your first transaction within 30 days of the card being issued and paying the membership fee, and the voucher link reaches your email within 30 days after that.

The milestone gift of 2,500 points needs ₹3 lakh of eligible spends in a membership year and must be claimed through an app banner within 60 days of crossing it.

Redemption and point value

Each RBL reward point on this card is worth ₹0.20 when redeemed for vouchers. RBL charges a redemption fee of ₹99 + GST, levied once per day on which you redeem. On the 2,500-point milestone that fee takes ₹117 out of a ₹500 voucher, so redeem the welcome and milestone points together if you can.

What counts, and what does not

Fuel, utilities, insurance, rent, education, wallet loads, government payments, railways, cash and EMI conversions do not count towards the milestone.

Offline UPI payments under ₹2,000 at small merchants earn no benefits on RBL’s RuPay cards. The card also works as a National Common Mobility Card for tap-and-pay metro and bus fares where supported.

RBL publishes no lounge access, insurance cover or fuel surcharge waiver for Jalsa.

Fees & Charges

Charge Amount
Annual membership fee ₹999 + GST in year 1 and every year after
Add-on card ₹200 a year
Interest Up to 3.99% a month (47.88% a year), based on your credit profile
Foreign currency transactions 3.5%
Cash withdrawal 2.5%, minimum ₹500, plus interest from the day of withdrawal
Late payment 12.5% of the total outstanding, minimum ₹5, maximum ₹1,300
Reward redemption ₹99 + GST per day of redemption
Rent 1% of the transaction
Utilities 1% on monthly utility spends above ₹50,000
Fuel 1% on any fuel transaction above ₹10,000, maximum ₹3,000
Education via third-party apps 1%
Over-limit Nil

GST at 18% applies to every fee and to interest. There is no waiver to aim for, so the card has to earn back ₹1,179 every year on its own.

In year one the ₹1,000 welcome voucher almost covers it. From year two you need about ₹2,000 a month of qualifying app orders just to break even.

The charge that catches people out is the late fee. At 12.5% of the total outstanding, a missed payment on a ₹8,000 bill costs ₹1,000 plus GST, which wipes out two months of maximum cashback.

Eligibility & Documents Required

RBL Bank’s Jalsa page does not list a minimum age, income or employment type, and approval depends on the bank’s own credit checks.

Keep your PAN, an address proof such as Aadhaar, and recent salary slips or an income tax return ready when you apply. If you change your mind, RBL offers a 45-day free look period to cancel, provided you owe nothing and have not used the welcome benefit.

Pros & Cons

Pros Cons
5% on nine popular quick commerce and shopping apps ₹50 cap per transaction
₹1,000 welcome voucher No fee waiver published
RuPay, works on UPI Cashback must be claimed every month
Over-limit fee is nil No base rewards on other spends

RBL Jalsa vs Competitors

Card Annual fee Fee waived at Best rate and cap
RBL Jalsa ₹999 + GST Not published 5% at nine apps, ₹500 a month
Kotak Cashback+ ₹750 + GST ₹2 lakh 5%, 750 points a cycle
Cashback SBI Card ₹999 + GST ₹2 lakh 5% online, ₹2,000 a cycle

Kotak Cashback+ is cheaper and can become free at ₹2 lakh a year. Cashback SBI costs the same as Jalsa, pays 5% on almost any online merchant with a cap four times higher, and can also be made free.

Jalsa wins only for the person whose card spends are almost entirely small orders on its nine named apps.

How do I claim RBL Jalsa cashback?

Through a banner in the RBL MyBank app that appears on the 3rd of each month. Confirm it with an OTP within three calendar months, and the cashback is credited within 15 days.

Is RBL Jalsa a RuPay card?

Yes. It is issued on RuPay, so you can link it to UPI apps and use it as a National Common Mobility Card.

What is the welcome benefit on RBL Jalsa?

A ₹1,000 voucher, given when you transact within 30 days of issue and pay the membership fee. The voucher link is emailed within 30 days of qualifying.

Bottom Line

Get the RBL Jalsa if you already spend ₹8,000 to ₹10,000 a month on Blinkit, Zepto, Swiggy and Zomato in small orders, and you will remember to claim the cashback in the app each month.

In that case you collect around ₹6,000 a year against a ₹1,179 fee. Skip it if your orders are usually above ₹1,000, if your online spending is spread across many merchants, or if you want a card that becomes free with spending.

Skip it too if you travel abroad, since the 3.5% forex fee and the lack of lounge access make it a poor travel card.
