The IndusInd Bank ePay American Express Credit Card is a fully digital card that charges no joining fee and no annual fee. It runs on the American Express network and is built around one unusual idea: you earn points per transaction, not per ₹100 spent.
The more separate payments of ₹500 or more you make in a statement cycle, the more each one earns. On top of that you get a cashback for paying your bill early, a short Zomato Gold membership and a Times Prime membership if you spend ₹2 lakh in a year.
This review works out what those points are actually worth, and who the per-transaction model suits.
Rewards & Benefits
Reward rate and earn structure
| Transaction number in the statement cycle | Points per transaction | Points in the 12th month bonus |
|---|---|---|
| 1st to 4th | 4 | 8 |
| 5th to 10th | 8 | 16 |
| 11th onwards | 10 | 20 |
Only transactions of ₹500 or more count. A payment of ₹499 earns nothing, and a payment of ₹50,000 earns the same points as one of ₹500. IndusInd says the points you can earn in a statement cycle are capped in line with your credit limit.
The 12th month bonus works like a loyalty reward. Make at least one transaction of ₹500 or more in each of the first 11 months of your card year, and every eligible spend in the 12th month earns double points.
The accelerated points, meaning those above the base 4 per transaction, are credited in the next statement cycle rather than straight away.
Redemption and point value
You redeem points on IndusMoments for cash credit against your bill, flights, hotels or air miles. As cash credit, 1 point is worth ₹0.35. For air miles, 3 points convert to 1 KrisFlyer mile. InterMiles redemption ended on 21 January 2025.
Here is the arithmetic. A ₹500 payment that earns 4 points returns ₹1.40, or 0.28%. The same payment as your 11th transaction earns 10 points, worth ₹3.50, or 0.7%. A single ₹10,000 payment earns at most ₹3.50, which is just 0.035%.
Say you make 15 payments of ₹500 in a month. You earn 16 + 48 + 50 = 114 points, worth ₹39.90 on ₹7,500 of spending, about 0.53%. Each cash redemption carries a ₹149 fee, and other redemptions ₹100, so redeem in large lots.
Early payment cashback and memberships
| Benefit | Condition |
|---|---|
| Early payment cashback at 5% a year | Pay the full statement balance within 7 days of the statement date |
| Zomato Gold for 3 months | One time, in the first year of card membership |
| Times Prime for 1 year, worth ₹1,199 | Spend ₹2 lakh in a card anniversary year |
| Total Protect counterfeit fraud cover | Up to your credit limit |
The early payment cashback is calculated daily. IndusInd takes 5% a year, divides it by 365 and multiplies it by the interest-free days you did not use. Its own example: a ₹50,000 statement paid 7 days after it was generated earns 0.21%, or ₹103.
Partial or minimum payments earn nothing, and the cashback reaches you in the next statement. It is a small sum, but on large bills it can beat what the points return.
The Zomato Gold code arrives by email or SMS and must be used within 30 days. The membership then runs for 3 months and is not renewed.
Travel and lounge access
The ePay Amex has no complimentary airport lounge access, and IndusInd’s terms say Priority Pass is not available on this card. Its product page also lists no fuel surcharge waiver.

GST at 18% applies to all fees and interest. IndusInd’s terms note that the actual fee is conveyed at the time of application, so read your offer letter before accepting the card.
There is no annual fee to waive, so the only cost of holding this card is what you pay when you revolve a balance or break a rule.
The charge that catches people out is the interest rate. At 3.95% a month, it sits in IndusInd’s highest bracket. Pay the full amount every month, which also earns you the early payment cashback.
Eligibility & Documents Required
IndusInd Bank does not publish a minimum income or age band on the ePay Amex page. Its cardholder agreement confirms that cards are not issued to anyone under 18, and approval depends on your identity checks, credit history and the bank’s own assessment.
Keep your PAN, Aadhaar and recent income proof ready, as the application asks for KYC and income details. The bank decides the final credit limit, which also sets your reward cap.
Pros & Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| No joining or annual fee | Points do not grow with the size of a payment |
| Up to 10 points per transaction | Best case return is about 0.7% |
| Cashback for paying early | No lounge access or fuel waiver |
| Double points in the 12th month | 3.95% monthly interest and 3.5% forex markup |
ePay Amex vs Competitors
| Card | Annual fee | How it rewards you | Lounge |
|---|---|---|---|
| IndusInd ePay Amex | Nil | 4 to 10 points per ₹500+ transaction | None |
| BOBCARD Cashback | ₹499 + GST or ₹49 a month | 5% on online spends, 1% elsewhere | None |
| Federal Bank Signet | Nil | 3x on electronics and apparel | 1 domestic visit a quarter on ₹20,000 spend |
If most of your card spending is online, the BOBCARD Cashback pays far more for a small fee. If you want a free card with lounge visits, Federal Signet fits better. The ePay Amex wins only when you make many small payments.

Bottom Line

Skip it if your spending comes in a few large payments, because a ₹20,000 purchase earns the same points as a ₹500 one. Skip it too if you want lounge access, travel abroad, or shop at places that do not take American Express.
