Axis Bank Neo Credit Card Review: Is It Worth ₹250?

Axis Bank Neo Credit Card Review

At a Glance

Joining Fee ₹250 + GST (₹295 all-in), lifetime free when sourced through select channels
Annual Fee Nil in year one, ₹250 + GST from year two
Best Suited For First-time cardholders who order on Zomato and Blinkit and pay phone and DTH bills on Paytm every month
Reward Type Monthly merchant discounts, plus Axis EDGE REWARD points

The Axis Bank Neo Credit Card is an entry-level card that skips the usual reward chart and gives you a set of monthly discounts instead: ₹120 off Zomato orders, 10% off Blinkit, 5% off Paytm recharges and 10% off BookMyShow.

The fee is just ₹250 + GST, and many applicants get it lifetime free. Axis claims you can save up to ₹10,000 a year.

That figure assumes you use every offer every month. The base reward rate is low, and from 1 November 2026 the movie discount needs a minimum spend. Here is what the card is really worth.

Rewards & Benefits

Monthly discounts

Merchant Offer Limit
Zomato Flat ₹120 off, minimum order ₹499, code AXISNEO Twice a month (₹240)
Blinkit 10% off, minimum order ₹750 Up to ₹250, once a month
Paytm mobile, broadband and DTH 5% off, minimum ₹299, code AXISNEO Up to ₹150, once a month
BookMyShow 10% off movie tickets Up to ₹100 a month
Cleartrip 7% off flights, 18% off hotels, code CTAXISNEO Up to ₹2,000 and ₹4,000, once a month each

Used fully, the Zomato, Blinkit, Paytm and BookMyShow offers add up to ₹740 a month, or ₹8,880 a year. Axis’s own value chart reaches ₹9,000 a year from year two by adding ₹120 of EDGE points. Two conditions trim this.

The Zomato offer does not work if you pay through UPI with a RuPay Neo card. And from 1 November 2026, the BookMyShow discount needs ₹25,000 of spends in the previous three months. New cardholders are exempt for the month of issue and the three calendar months after it.

Reward rate and redemption

Outside the offers, you earn 1 EDGE REWARD point per ₹200 spent, with no monthly cap published. Points are redeemed on the EDGE REWARDS catalogue across 500+ options, and Axis lists a reward redemption fee.

No points are earned on utility and telecom bills, rent, wallet loads, government payments, insurance, gold and jewellery, fuel, cash, gift cards, tolls or repayments.

Axis’s value chart credits just ₹120 a year to EDGE points, which tells you the points are a minor extra on this card. Unredeemed points can be forfeited 30 days after the card is closed, or if the minimum due stays unpaid for over 90 days.

Activation benefit

Pay your first utility bill with the card within 30 days of issue and Axis returns 100% of it as cashback, up to ₹300. That is the only welcome benefit, so use it on an electricity or phone bill of ₹300 or close to it.

What the card does not have

Axis publishes no airport lounge access, no insurance cover and no fuel surcharge waiver for Neo. In fact the fee table lists a 1% fuel surcharge.

You do get zero lost card liability from the moment you report a lost card, and purchases above ₹1,500 can be converted to EMI.

Fees & Charges

Charge Amount
Joining fee ₹250 + GST, or nil through select channels
Annual fee Nil in year one, ₹250 + GST from year two
Add-on card Nil
Interest 3.75% a month (55.55% a year, as stated by Axis)
Foreign currency markup 3.5%
Dynamic currency conversion 3.5% (raised from 1.5% on 28 August 2026)
Cash withdrawal 2.5%, minimum ₹500
Late payment Nil below ₹500; ₹500 up to ₹5,000; ₹750 up to ₹10,000; ₹1,200 up to ₹50,000; ₹1,300 above ₹50,000
Over-limit 2.5% of the over-limit amount, minimum ₹500
Cash payment at branch ₹175
Rent and education via apps 1% per transaction
Utilities 1% on ₹25,000 or more a statement cycle
Wallet loads 1% on ₹10,000 or more a statement cycle
Fuel 1% surcharge, plus a 1% fee on ₹50,000 or more a statement cycle

GST at 18% applies on top. Axis publishes no spend-based waiver for the ₹250 annual fee, but at ₹295 all-in, one month of Zomato and Blinkit offers covers it. If you were offered the card lifetime free, there is nothing to recover at all.

The charge to watch is the late fee. Miss a payment on a ₹6,000 bill and you pay ₹750 plus GST, which wipes out a full month of discounts. Axis also adds ₹100 if the minimum due stays unpaid for two cycles in a row.

Eligibility & Documents Required

The primary cardholder must be 18 to 70 years old and either a resident of India or a Non-Resident Indian.

Add-on cardholders must be over 18. Axis does not publish a minimum income. You need a copy of your PAN card, income proof such as your latest payslip, Form 16 or ITR, and address proof such as a driving licence or electricity bill.

Axis Neo vs Competitors

Card Annual fee Fee waived at Reward type
Axis Neo ₹250 + GST Not published Monthly merchant discounts
SimplyClick SBI Card ₹499 + GST ₹1 lakh Reward points, 4 points = ₹1
IDFC FIRST Millennia Nil Lifetime free Reward points, 1 point = ₹0.25

SimplyClick suits someone who shops online across many partner brands, while IDFC FIRST Millennia costs nothing at all. Neo wins when your spending is mostly small, regular orders on Zomato, Blinkit and Paytm, because its discounts apply on those orders whatever your total spend.

How to Apply

Apply from the Neo page on Axis Bank’s website, enter your details and complete the KYC and income checks.

Check whether your application route offers the card lifetime free before you submit. Once the card arrives, pay a utility bill within 30 days to claim the activation cashback, and save the AXISNEO and CTAXISNEO codes for the app offers.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Axis Neo Credit Card lifetime free?

Only when sourced through select channels. Otherwise it costs ₹250 + GST to join and ₹250 + GST a year from year two.

How much can I save with Axis Neo?

Up to about ₹740 a month on the Zomato, Blinkit, Paytm and BookMyShow offers combined. Axis’s own estimate is ₹9,300 in year one including the activation cashback.

Does Axis Neo give lounge access?

No. Axis Bank does not list any airport lounge access for the Neo Credit Card.

What is the age limit for Axis Neo?

18 to 70 years for the primary cardholder. Both residents and Non-Resident Indians can apply.

Can I use the Axis Neo Zomato offer on UPI?

No. The ₹120 Zomato discount does not apply when you pay through UPI with a RuPay Neo card, so pay with the card directly.

Bottom Line

Get the Axis Neo if it is your first card, you order food and groceries a few times a month, and you pay your phone or DTH bills on Paytm.

For ₹295 a year, or nothing if you get it lifetime free, the discounts easily pay for themselves. Skip it if you want a card that rewards all your spending, because 1 point per ₹200 is very low.

Skip it too if you want lounge visits, a fuel waiver or a card for foreign spends, since it offers none of these and charges a 3.5% markup abroad.
