Axis Bank Privilege Credit Card Review

At a Glance

Joining Fee ₹1,500 + GST (₹1,770 all-in)
Annual Fee ₹1,500 + GST, reversed on ₹5 lakh of eligible spends in the card anniversary year
Best Suited For Spenders of ₹2.5 lakh to ₹5 lakh a year who want a low-fee card with lounge access and a movie offer
Reward Type Axis EDGE REWARD points, worth ₹0.20 each against vouchers

The Axis Bank Privilege Credit Card is an entry premium card that sits between Axis Bank’s everyday cards and its travel range.

It earns 10 EDGE REWARD points per ₹200, gives you 12,500 points worth ₹2,500 when you pay the joining fee, adds 10,000 bonus points at ₹2.5 lakh of yearly spend, and includes 2 domestic lounge visits a quarter.

The catch is that almost every perk now comes with a spend condition, and a new one on movie tickets starts on 1 November 2026. This review puts a rupee value on each benefit and shows who gets more back than the ₹1,770 they pay.

Rewards & Benefits

Reward rate and earn structure

You earn 10 EDGE REWARD points for every ₹200 spent, in India or abroad, with no category bonus and no monthly cap listed on Axis Bank’s page.

Axis Bank values its own 12,500 welcome points at ₹2,500 and its 10,000 milestone points at ₹2,000, so each point is worth ₹0.20 on vouchers and the base return is 1%.

No points are earned on insurance, rent, fuel, education, utilities, government payments, wallet loads, gold and jewellery, gift cards, or bridge, road and toll fees. If you convert a purchase to EMI, the points earned on it are taken back, and they are not returned if you later cancel the EMI.

Redemption and point value

Points are redeemed through the Axis EDGE REWARDS catalogue on the Axis Bank app or website. At ₹0.20 a point, ₹1 lakh of eligible spending earns 5,000 points, worth ₹1,000.

Axis Bank’s fee table says a reward redemption fee applies, but the product page does not list the amount, so check it in the catalogue before you redeem a small balance.

Welcome and milestone benefits

Benefit Points Value Condition
Activation 12,500 ₹2,500 in vouchers Full ₹1,500 + GST joining fee charged, and first transaction within 30 days of issue
Annual milestone 10,000 ₹2,000 ₹2.5 lakh of eligible spends in a card anniversary year, primary and add-on combined

Free, first-year-free and priority segment cards do not get the activation points. The milestone uses the same exclusion list as rewards, so rent, utilities, fuel, insurance, wallet loads and similar spends do not count towards ₹2.5 lakh.

Lounge, movies and fuel

Benefit Allowance Condition
Domestic lounges 2 visits per calendar quarter ₹50,000 spent in the previous 3 months
International lounges Not offered None

New cards are exempt from the movie spend rule for the month of issue and the next 3 calendar months. The card also carries Axis Bank’s Dining Delights programme and Wednesday Delight offers.

Fees & Charges

Annual fee ₹1,500 + GST, reversed on ₹5 lakh of eligible spends in the previous anniversary year
Add-on card Nil
Foreign currency markup 3.5%
Dynamic currency conversion 3.5% on rupee payments abroad or to foreign-registered merchants (raised from 1.5% on 28 August 2026)

Cash withdrawal 2.5% of the amount, minimum ₹500

Rent 1% of every rent transaction
Wallet, utilities, fuel 1% once a cycle reaches ₹10,000 on wallets, ₹25,000 on utilities or ₹50,000 on fuel
Education and gaming 1% on education paid via third-party apps; 1% once skill-gaming spends reach ₹10,000 a cycle
GST 18% on fees, interest and charges

The ₹5 lakh waiver works out to about ₹41,700 a month of eligible spending. Utilities, telecom, rent, wallet loads, government, insurance, gold, fuel, education, gift cards and tolls do not count.

If you spend ₹2.5 lakh instead, you pay the fee but collect 10,000 milestone points worth ₹2,000, which more than covers the ₹1,770 renewal.

The charge that catches people out is the 3.5% dynamic currency conversion fee. Paying in rupees on a foreign website or at a shop abroad now costs as much as paying in dollars, so the Privilege is not a card to travel with.

Axis Bank Privilege ₹1,500 + GST ₹5 lakh ₹2,000 milestone at ₹2.5 lakh
HDFC Regalia Gold ₹2,500 + GST ₹4 lakh Spend-linked vouchers and SmartBuy redemption

Yes, the ₹1,500 + GST annual fee is reversed if you spend ₹5 lakh in the previous card anniversary year. Rent, utilities, fuel, insurance, wallet loads and other excluded categories do not count.

How many lounge visits does the Axis Privilege card give?

2 domestic lounge visits per calendar quarter, so 8 a year. You must have spent ₹50,000 in the previous 3 months to use them. There is no international lounge access.

What is an EDGE REWARD point worth on this card?

₹0.20 on vouchers, based on Axis Bank’s own valuation of 12,500 points at ₹2,500. That makes the 10 points per ₹200 earn rate a 1% return.

Does the Axis Privilege card earn points on rent and utilities?

No. Rent, utilities, insurance, fuel, education, government, wallet, gold, gift card and toll spends earn no points. Rent also carries a 1% fee on every transaction.

What changes on 1 November 2026?

The District buy one get one movie offer will need ₹25,000 of spending in the previous 3 months. New cards are exempt for the month of issue and the following 3 months.

What is the forex markup?

3.5% on foreign currency transactions, plus GST. Rupee payments abroad also attract a 3.5% DCC fee since 28 August 2026.

Bottom Line

Get the Axis Bank Privilege Credit Card if you spend at least ₹2.5 lakh a year on regular shopping and dining, and want domestic lounge access and a movie offer for a small fee.

In the first year the ₹2,500 activation points beat the ₹1,770 cost, and every year after that the ₹2,000 milestone does the same.

Skip it if you travel abroad, because of the 3.5% markup, the 3.5% DCC fee and the lack of international lounges. Skip it too if most of your card spend is rent, bills or fuel, which earn nothing here.
