The Kotak League Platinum Credit Card is an entry-level rewards card from Kotak Mahindra Bank. It earns 4 reward points per ₹150 on most spends, doubling to 8 points on a few categories and on everything after ₹2 lakh of yearly spending.
Its real value sits in the half-yearly milestone. Spend ₹1.25 lakh in six months and you get 4 PVR movie tickets or 10,000 bonus points, up to twice a year.
The fee is a low ₹499 + GST, and ₹50,000 of yearly spending waives it. This review covers the earn rules, what a point is worth and who should pick something else.
Rewards & Benefits
Reward rate and earn structure
| Spend type | Up to ₹2 lakh a year | After ₹2 lakh a year |
|---|---|---|
| Special categories | 8 points per ₹150 | 8 points per ₹150 |
| All other eligible spends | 4 points per ₹150 | 8 points per ₹150 |
| Utility and telecom | Earns only on the first ₹35,000 per statement cycle | Same cap |
| Fuel, railways, rent, wallet loads, insurance, government, education, online gaming | No points | No points |
The special categories are travel agencies and tour operators, airlines, electronics stores, durable goods and department stores. These are matched by merchant category code, so the merchant’s coding decides the rate, not the product you buy.
The ₹2 lakh threshold is counted over your card anniversary year. Once your eligible spends cross it, every other category also earns 8 points per ₹150 until the year resets.
Points usually reach your account within 5 days of a transaction settling.
Redemption and point value
Points are redeemed through Kotak Rewards. For mobile recharges, products, e-vouchers, movies and travel, 1 point is worth ₹0.10. Converting points to statement credit pays only ₹0.07 a point and needs at least 2,000 points.
At ₹0.10 a point, 4 points per ₹150 is a return of about 0.27%. The 8-point rate is about 0.53%. On its own, that is a low earn rate, which is why the milestone matters so much.
Welcome and milestone benefits
| Benefit | Condition | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Joining gift | ₹499 fee version only, after the joining fee is paid | 5,000 points (₹500) |
| Half-yearly milestone | ₹1,25,000 of eligible spends in each 6-month period | 4 PVR tickets or 10,000 points (₹1,000) |
You can earn the milestone twice a year, so the maximum is 8 PVR tickets or 20,000 points. Each PVR ticket covers up to ₹400. You pay any difference plus the booking fee, and tickets are booked only on pvrcinemas.com, not at the box office.
Claim the milestone within 3 months of the period ending. Spends in the no-points categories do not count towards it, and a transaction counts in the period in which it settles.
Here is what ₹2.5 lakh a year, split evenly across both halves, returns. The first ₹2 lakh earns about 5,333 points and the next ₹50,000 about 2,667. Add two milestones of 10,000 points each and you have 28,000 points, or ₹2,800. That is about 1.1% back.
Fuel, railway and add-on cards
| Benefit | Details |

| Add-on cards | Same benefits as the primary card, with a spend limit you set |
| Interest-free period | Up to 51 days |
| Lounge access | Not offered |
Fees & Charges

| Annual fee | ₹499 + GST, waived on ₹50,000 of retail spends a year |
| Add-on card | Nil |

| Forex markup | 3.5% |
| Cash advance | 2.5% of the amount, minimum ₹500 |
| Late payment | Nil up to ₹100 due, then ₹100 to ₹1,300 by slab |

| Rent and third-party education payments | 1% of the amount |
GST at 18% applies on top of every fee and on interest. The ₹50,000 waiver works out to about ₹4,200 a month, so anyone using this as a main card will clear it easily.
The charge that catches people out is the 3.75% monthly interest. Revolving even ₹20,000 for one month costs about ₹750 before GST. That is more than the ₹533 of base points you earn on ₹2 lakh of spending. Always pay the full bill.
